ABOUT

This is a new site being developed as a resource for the people of the eight towns of lower and outer Cape Cod, Massachusetts, including Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown.  The aim is to educate the general public about the human services available, and to foster communication among the agencies and people, both professionals and volunteers, who deliver that service.

There are three distinct parts to this site (so far):

  1. An extensive list of agencies and services.  Each page has a comments section for all corrections, omissions and changes as noted by the public, and the list should therefore be as accurate as possible.
  2. Any agency can have its own page, and have control of that page over the Internet by password protection.  So far, we have written about four of the agencies in the area as examples.
  3. There is a blog to discuss various topics as the community evolves.

There are other possibilities for this site.  Please go to our first Blog, which discusses those possibilities.  Click the link on the side of this page, “Why This Site?”

As pages NEAR completion, they will be published. We are volunteers doing our small part in this troubled world, and realize there will be errors and omissions. We therefore welcome all comments, suggestions and corrections.

PLEASE WRITE ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS BELOW. OTHER COMMENTS ARE ALSO WELCOME.

This weekend I learned about the Homeless Prevention Council and the Lower Cape Outreach Council. I am Director of a state-wide network and resource for people with disabilities called New England INDEX (www.disabilityinfo.org). I had commented to someone very familiar with your work that many of the agencies in our network are feeling stressed because of the intensity and completity of the calls for help they are receiving. Your blog and the programs on it are very helpful and I will make sure that this information gets passed along to those we work with. Thanks very much for your good work and commitment for the growning number of people who are disadvantaged.
