Children’s Services


There are many and diverse services available to promote the safety and well being of children on Cape Cod.  While some of these services are offered in the eight-town area, a more complete range can by found in Hyannis.  Below is a compilation of services found in the lower and outer cape, then listings for Hyannis, and followed by services in other areas of the cape and state that may be helpful.

Located in 8-Town Area:

Cape Cod Children’s Place

is a non-profit resource and education center focusing on local families with young children to age 6, with free consultations and referrals to services.  The Cape Cod Children’s Place is described more fully elsewhere on this website. Outer Cape WIC (Women, Infants and Children)

  is a federally funded nutrition program that encompasses children to age 5 and provides free food, nutrition education and other services. Big Brothers/Big Sisters

  provides mentoring services for girls 6-12 and boys 6-13 years old who are at risk.  A community and school-based program screens and matches volunteers who serve as role models for children in single parent families. Nauset Together We Can Prevention Council

 provides diverse programs in safe places for young people to promote positive behavior.  The Juice Bar, its youth center, is now located in a small building in front of Willy’s in Eastham.  Run by students, it features concerts by student bands, and art and fashion shows.  They also have community dinners at the Orleans-Eastham Elks lodge. John A. Henry Trust Services

 provides services for Provincetown families with children through 18 years old. 508-240-3310

 

Monomoy Community Services

Located in Hyannis:

A Baby Center

 provides free critical baby needs, including food, diapers and accoutrements, every thirty days for children to age 3 from families on Cape Cod meeting income guidelines. Cape Cod Child Development

Cape Cod Neighborhood Support Coalition

Child and Family Services of Cape Cod

Child Care Network – Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands

Hospice of Cape Cod

Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children

 offers a wide variety of programs and services on behalf of  children at risk.  Among them are child abuse prevention and family support services, mental health treatment, day care and after-school programs, adoption services, and foster and adoptive parent support.  Children and families vary greatly by circumstance; some are referred by public or community agencies, others by family or friends, others find their own way. 206 Breeds Hill Road, Hyannis, MA 02601; 508-775-0275 or click here for link to website.

   

Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF)
