Eastham, MA 02651 Phone: 508-240-3310 Toll free: 800-871-9535 Hours: Director: Catherine Macaulay Website: Cape Cod Children’s Place Cape Cod Children’s Place is a non-profit resource, referral and education center that provides services and up-to-date information for over 500 local families with young children. The core program is to provide accessible and affordable opportunities to help keep families with children through 6 years of age in the diverse community of the lower and outer cape healthy, secure and independent, and includes free consultation, referrals and direct links with resources. Programs are aimed at children, parents, and parents and children together. Tuition assistance and local scholarship funds are available, and many of the lectures and activities are free. Some programs: Parent Education and Family Support: Family Road Shows: Free workshops and parenting information presentations. Childbirth Education: Free classes for married, single, gay, or teen parents awaiting childbirth. Single Moms Group Dads Group Grandparents as Caregivers Group Mom & Babies Group: Area drop-in support, education and fun group for new mothers and babies. Provincetown Family Resource: Support services and emergency funds for Provincetown families with children through 18 years through the John A. Henry Trust.
Cape and Islands Early Childhood Resource Center: The CCCP resource center, funded by federal and state grants, is a lending library of books and materials on early childhood education for parents and educators. In addition to materials and supplies, local educators may use a variety of CCCP equipment at the center, including a laminator, color copier, computer for Internet access, and a die cut machine. Equipment is available for off-site use, as well as a transport van to facilitate it. There is also a resource coordinator on site for consultation. Early Childhood Care and Education: Childcare and early education programs are available for children through 5 years, including full day programs and separate summer programs. Early Childhood Playgroups: A list is maintained of the schedule of free activities in the lower and outer cape towns. Town libraries have many young children’s programs. Special Fundraisers: Art Outside the Box: Art Outside the Box is a silent fine art auction held at the Blue Heron Gallery in Wellfleet during the summer. It features local artists who paint original works of art on lunchboxes. Family Fun Fair: Each March, CCCP sponsors a family fun fair held at the Nauset Middle School in Orleans, which features games, arts and crafts and musical entertainment aimed at children through age 5. Older siblings are welcome. Support: The Massachusetts Dept. of Early Education and Care, Massachusetts Children’s Trust Fund, local towns and churches, private contributions, and early childhood program fees and tuition support CCCP.
